What makes a good Food Truck Park?
There are several factors I consider (each out of 10):
Food Variety: Is there just a park of only taco trucks? or a park with one or two trucks? For us it's important to have a variety of cuisines like a proper food court to give you options any day of the week for every meal you desire whether it's breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert.
Food Quality: An obvious one! But are the trucks in the park rated and reviewed well by customers (across all platforms like Google, Yelp, DoorDash, etc.) This is important to evaluate for yourself and of course food quality is subjective to your taste and preferences but you'll be able to quickly tell after having your own experience if the food quality is good or not.
Affordability: Austin in general can be pretty pricey to go out to eat so the value of the food you receive based on the price you pay have to be aligned. If you spend money on food IT BETTER BE GOOD! In general, I've found food trucks to be less expensive than a brick-and-mortar restaurant because they have much less expenses to operate ... which ultimately is beneficial for the customer. I also look at the portion of food you get for the cost, is the food satiating enough for the price that you pay?
Parking: Especially in South Austin this can be a challenge to find parking let alone free parking. Parks need to make it convenient to park grab your food and go.
Atmosphere: What's the vibe? Is there indoor, outdoor, or covered seating? Is the atmosphere comfortable to eat in?
